Caramelized Apples
Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons (3/4 sticks) unsalted butter
- 2 pounds (approx 6) Granny Smith Apples
- 1/4 cup (packed) light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Directions:
- Peel apples
- Slice and core apples with apple slicer into 12 wedges
- Melt butter in a 5 quart pan over medium heat
- Add light brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to melted butter
- Stir until evenly dissolved
- Add apples
- Stir to maintain even coating
- Cook for 8 to 12 minutes covered, stirring about every minute
- Stop when apples are soft and syrup is thickened
- You may wish to leave sitting in the covered pan for a few minutes after cooking to let the syrup thicken
Left overs should be stored in the refrigerator.
