Peanut Butter Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
 - 1/2 cup shortening
 - 1/2 cup peanut butter
 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
 - 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
or
1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons molasses - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
 - 1 egg
 - 1 1/4 cups flour (sifted or stired before measure)
 
Serves:
- Two dozen cookies
 
Directions:
- Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder
 - Cream shortening, peanut butter, and sugars
 - Beat vanilla and egg into shortening mixture
 - Stir flour mixture into shortening mixture, blending well
 - Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls and place on greased baking sheets
 - Flatten each cookies with the tines of a fork (flour fork to keep it from sticking as necessary)
 - Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes
